Sa'adi Poem placed at the Entrance of the United Nations Building NYC

Mona Kiani

Fun Fact:
New York is MY FAV CITY in the world.
and on my travels I visited the UN building on Manhattan
guess what I found out?
There is
a Persian poem written by Saadi
at the entrance!
Rhyming translations by M. Aryanpoor:
Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
     Other members uneasy will remain.
If you've no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain!
