Growing up I shied away from my Iranian heritage. I could understand & speak with my extended family but never wanted to read or write. I was never inspired to.
Now I have a family of my own, I longed to converse & read books to my children in my mother tongue. This proved rather challenging, as I was illiterate.
I was determined to find a way. Using the familiar phonetics of English. I paved the way for learning as I taught my children. Learning each letter as a building block, I was able to piece together the puzzle of the Persian Alphabet, and learn to read Persian in my 30's.
