So I was making popcorn with my son today and I kept using the English word Popcorn to refer to it. Then I remembered what it was in Persian!
Hilariously it also corresponds with two other Persian words that have no relevance to the edible snack.
Chos = Fart
Fíl = Elephant

Hi. Just today I learned that chosefil is a mis-pronunciation of Chesterfield (an old popcorn brand for “zorrate boo dadeh”), much like using Kleenex for tissues.
