Read the Colours Book as pre reading
In all of these activities you should aim to read and repeat the letters that you learnt
with your child in everyday settings. The more often they hear the word the greater the chance of retention and recollection.
1. Name the colours
ROYGBIV
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet
2. Primary Colours ICE Activity
Using RED BLUE & YELLOW
create coloured ice cubes and place in the Freezer
Place frozen cubes in glass jars/cups
mix primary colours in even block numbers to make new colours!
3. Coloured Lava Lamp
Create a home made lava lamp
Fill a cup (1/3 cup water, 2/3 cup oil)
Few drops of your children's favourite colour
Effervescent tablets
Watch the colours mix when you add the effervescent tablets
*Requires adult supervision
4. Music
Music is the greatest tool for memorisation.
